WAYNE FOSTER

Synopsis 

 

Born1957 in the town of Valdosta, Georgia USA, Wayne Foster was gifted with a wonderful, velvety smooth voice. At the tender of age of six Foster became a main stay in the local ‘Jerusalem Baptist Church’ gospel choir where he became the lead singer at not much older in age.

 

 It was whilst attending the University Of Georgia, Mrs. D Carter, the management of internationally renowned Atlantic Records signed vocal group, the ‘Drifters’, contacted Foster’s vocal coach. Foster auditioned with the Drifters in 1977 and was invited to join the company and well… the rest they say is history. 

 

As an integral part of the Drifters, Foster has travelled the world performing in the Drifters show lead by Billy Washington the only original surviving member of the Drifters who was auditioned and inducted into the company by founding member Clyde McPhatter, 

 

In 1979 recognizing an untapped market, the Drifters consisting of Wayne Foster, Billy Washington and Jimmy Hazley moved to Australia. After the sad passing of Jimmy Hazley, Patrick Jackson (of renowned US R&B, Soul group ‘The Coasters’) stepped in to fill the large gap Jimmy had left. 

 

Foster now offers his own Soul, R&B shows paying tribute to renowned soul & R&B artists such as Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Aretha Franklin, The Drifters, The Platters, James Brown plus so many more.
